The second detail installment from: 10 General Physical Skills

Stamina- The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.

This also falls under the skills that require training to develop. This is the realm where 400m and 800m runners dominate. If your stamina is high you can maintain a high power output for an appreciable time.

This is an area where elite gymnasts and olympic weightlifters can fall short. Their power output is unparalleled, but they are unable to maintain it for any length of time. These first two traits (endurance and stamina) are the arenas where competitive athletes in these sports are lacking.

Our workouts that are moderately heavy and cycle fast are where this is developed most. If your stamina is good you will be able to come off a 400m run and immediately pick up a weight and get to work on another exercise. This trait will serve you well in emergency situations as you will be able to do real work for a sustained period of time.
